Torre Clementina Wedding in Portonovo
Last year Carolina and Koichi contacted me from Sydney, Australia. They had seen some of my destination wedding images and wanted to have a chat about how I could help create their own wedding story with their wedding in Portonovo, Italy.
Based out of Sydney, they chose Italy as their wedding location, a little town called Portonovo with the reception in the beautiful La Terraza, Torre Clementina, Portonovo.
Choosing Your Wedding Photographer
Both Carolina and Koichi knew exactly what they wanted which is great as it’s crucial to set expectations early on when deciding to choose your wedding photographer. Being able to show full wedding examples on my blog gives a good indication of what a wedding story could look like and not just the odd one lovely shot.
Story Of The Day
A wedding shoot is exactly that, it’s not a fashion shoot where you have unlimited hours to prep and set up shots. Weddings are extremely fast-paced and tell a story, a documentary of the day and these moments however large or small are crucial to capture.
As an experienced wedding photographer in Bedfordshire, you must plan ahead for the shots that you’d really like to capture as well as capturing all the candid emotion that a wedding brings. This can happen weeks, months, days or hours before as long as you understand the location and any restrictions.
It could be a facial reaction to a comment from a conversation you’ve heard and expect a reaction, it might be the cuddle from a loved one, you get what I mean. You need to be able to capture not just the hero shots but more importantly, build the wedding story.
Koichi pointed me in the direction of some of his work, he is an established architect, working on famous and incredible projects around the world so he knew his stuff, and also knows about light, when to shoot and what he likes. A fellow perfectionist. Check out just some of his beautiful work here.
Destination Wedding Photographer Italy
I flew into Ancora, the East coast of Italy and traveled by car to the wedding planners office where we discussed the day, including timings and the general flow or the event. Although working as a solo wedding photographer we all rely on each other as a team to ensure we deliver each of our respected services to the highest standard.
Headed up by Donatella, an experienced planner who organises very special weddings and events. She is extremely hard working, dedicated to ensure your wedding day is perfect. You can contact them here at Italian Wedding Luxury.
Having chosen to host their wedding in Portonovo I always like to walk around the day before to immerse myself in the scenery, get a feel for why they chose such a remote and beautiful location. It really is a stunning village, with just a handful of quality restaurants.
Here is a small snippet from Carolina and Koichis wedding story.
